At the very heart of Church life is prayer and worship. Together we value the opportunity to discover more about God through music, prayer, and in coming together in the Eucharist (Holy Communion). We especially value the diversity found in the contemporary and modern forms of worship found in the Church of England’s Common Worship service books. We also enjoy the poetic beauty of the traditional 1662 Book of Common Prayer (BCP) which has inspired the churches prayer and liturgy for generations. The regular pattern of weekly church services can be found below:
Sundays
8.00am Holy Communion (BCP) a said service with prayers, a short sermon and Holy Communion lasting about 35 minutes.
10.00am Sung Eucharist including Junior Church and followed by refreshments. A service that includes hymns, with the singing led by our choir. Includes a sermon and Holy Communion. Lasts just over 1 hour.
Week days
Tuesday to Friday 9.00am (in St Peter’s Chapel inside St Paul’s) Morning Prayer. A service of prayers, psalms and bible readings to start the day. Lasts about 20 minutes.
Thursday 10.00am Said Eucharist followed by refreshments. A service without singing which includes bible readings, a short sermon, prayers and Holy Communion. Lasts about 35 minutes.
Accessibility.
Worshippers and visitors with disabilities are most welcome at St. Paul’s. If you require any assistance please ask a member of our welcome team on arrival. For wheelchair users or those with other disabilities an accessible toilet facility is available in the Parish Centre, through the double doors on the north side of the church. For those who are hard of hearing a loop system is also available.
If you are unable to stand, or move forward to receive the Sacrament, please tell one of the Welcome team and they will make sure the Clergy bring the Sacrament to you during Communion. Whilst we have some traditions about when we stand or sit, please feel free to stand or sit as you feel comfortable.
