Mothers’ Union

Mothers’ Union is a global Christian movement focused on ending poverty, violence and social injustice in communities across the UK and the world. The charity was founded in 1876 by Mary Sumner, whose husband was a vicar in the Church of England, to support mothers, no matter what their background was, to bring up their children in the Christian faith. Today the Mothers’ Union has over 4 million members across 84 countries, and they work with people of all faiths and none, transforming lives, strengthening families and advocating for change. Mothers’ Union provides a network through which members meet locally as a branch and seek to serve Christ in their own community. This is done through prayer, financial support and actively working in projects that meet local needs. Members don’t have to be mothers and are both married or single, women or men.

The Mothers’ Union branch in Chichester is based at St. Paul’s. Members are from St Paul’s, the Cathedral, Boxgrove and Lavant churches and meet monthly.
